Day 3 ... will we be able to keep it up? Will you care???

Will you though???  By the end it will be me and Damien drooling over our trip 😁

So ... today the Eiffel Tower was our main objective and we have the added bonus of having  conquered the Metro in preparation for our trip to Versailles tomorrow.

We had a sleep-in (body clocks are not yet adjusted) and after a quick brekky took a stroll through the nearby Jewish Quarter on Rue des Rosiers.  It was a nice little enclave; quiet and stylish with some lovely little shops.  I bought a pair of earrings for me and a pair for my pal Cindy.  We always bring each other a little gifty home from our travels.  There were some lovely looking pastry shops as well as art galleries and though these pictures look pretty ordinary because they were taken through the windows, they appealed so I wanted to share:
Moses winning the swimming - the jews are cheering him on ... yay Moses!
This man was in three stages of more and more missing bits
Fantastic 3D super hero
One for Vicki
Babooshka galore!
This was beautifully carved, with a very nice belly button
Chocolate scrabble pieces in the chocolatier
The obligatory patisserie - amazing slabs of meringue (top middle)

Anyway, on we go to Republique Station not too far away where we descend into the underground rail system to buy our Metro tickets to Trocadero, the nearest station to the Eiffel Tower.  It was super-easy - buy at machine which kindly has English instructions and for very little we were there in about 15 minutes.

We headed to a nice looking restaurant for lunch before the 3 pm tour.  Damien went for the raw meat and I had lovely tomato pasta.  Don't see the attraction of raw mince to be honest.
We met our lovely guide Galina on the steps of the Museum of Architecture.  We purchased a Skip the Line which makes you feel like you're in Business Class only not quite so fancy.  She is originally from Kiev, studying art history in Paris.  Apparently nearly all the guides are studying art history so very knowledgeable.  On the way over to the tower she told us lots of interesting facts about the surrounding area, buildings and history of the tower.  It was meant to be temporary but obviously that was overruled.  Suffice to say, it was pretty damn fabulous.  Damien overcame his fear of heights and I think enjoyed it.  We took the lift up the second level and the view of Paris was amazing.  We opted out of the summit ride as the queue circled around the tower pretty much.  We walked down which was easy and fun.  Here's some snaps:
Ma mayan
Seen about 10 brides in Paris
Bloody locks on every loose bit of fence
Unbeleeeevable
Line me up
Oops, that's the headless man from Montmartre!
There he goes, smiling again!

After the Eiffel tour we headed to the Seine for the included cruise.  It was fabulous.  As Cindy said, relaxing and a lovely alternative view to Paris.
Lots of wine in lots of pics ... hmmm

We walked home along the Seine which took over an hour.  The trees in Paris and gorgeous.  They line the streets everywhere and are beautifully coiffed.  I would love to know what sort of tree this one is - they are all over the place and I like them very much:
They have white (more common) and pink flowers

So we got home late, went out and ate and my steps show as 19,000.  Not bad.

Tomorrow as I said, we have Versailles, where I am also looking forward to lunch booked at Alain Ducasse's ore restaurant.  I will be taking pics of the dishes for sure.

I am pinching myself to be in Paris and on this trip.  I know people travel all over the world these days but for Damien and me, it's a first really big trip and I feel very blessed to be able to do it. 🙋

Bonne nuit 😪
